Description
The PIC, together with business, and in collaboration with tertiary institutions and other stakeholders, established a Career Development programmes for high school learners, that will assist young people in Grade 9 - 12, in making informed and sound subject and career choices in high schools.
Programme outcomes
Learners are exposed to various career options, through a structured career day expo, where learners interact with PIC’ employees across different professions. Learners are given advise on various careers, and get exposed to the industry through and other PIC partners. Schools are also capacitated with practical toolkits where learners can be guided on subject choice, based on qualifications and careers that learners want to pursue.
The career EXPO is augmented by on the job shadowing, whereby learners are hosted in the PIC, in different divisions and by PIC professionals who are qualified in the learners’ career interest.
To ensure that this initiative makes an impact at the identified schools, a one (1) day Career Guidance training workshop is held for the Life Orientation educators and Career Guidance Books also given to the schools to assist the educators and learners post the workshops.
