The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 was promulgated in order to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in public and private bodies, such as the PIC. The act gives effect to the right to access to information, and actively promotes a society in which the people of South Africa are better empowered to fully exercise and protect all of their rights as enshrined in the Constitution.

As the PIC possesses material information which may affect prices in the market, this information must be responsibly disseminated, taking into account the effect of the disclosures we make on the market, as well as the provisions of the Securities Services Act, 2004. PAIA aids the PIC to exercise the necessary caution when handling the confidential information in our possession.

The manual below sets out a process that needs to be followed to request access to records in PIC's possession.
