[column 3]“I received an undergraduate bursary from the PIC in my final year in 2017. It was such a blessing in that my tuition was covered in full and therefore allowed me space to focus all my attention on my studies without having to worry about how my fees would be paid. As a result, I was able to pass extremely well and attain multiple distinctions. I received nominations from Allan Gray and for the 2018 Russell Loubser Merit award for outstanding academic achievement.
I now have a great opportunity in the graduate program to learn and develop myself as well as add value as I navigate my journey as a professional. I am truly grateful as there are many unemployed graduates in South Africa who are equally deserving but are unable to get such an opportunity. Being the youngest employee at the PIC is sometimes intimidating however I have chosen to accept the challenge and recognize the wealth of experience surrounding me. Being selected for the program only affirms my efforts and encourages me to improve and build a skill set while adding value to the division I have been assigned to.”

[column 3]“I was a PIC bursary holder in the year 2017 at the University of Venda, and the PIC bursary enabled me to focus on my studies and I completed by qualification without worrying about student debt. As a PIC bursary recipient, I also had the opportunity to take part in the PIC Vacation Work programme (January 2018), and had a mentor assigned to me and a team that supported me. I had the privilege of being exposed to the investment industry under Research and Development Division, working on a project with the portfolio construction team.
I was given an opportunity to showcase my computer programming skills and it is there that the PIC saw potential in me. After the programme I applied to join the PICeed Graduate Programme, and today I am a proud PICeed in the Research and Projects Development division. The PIC bursary programme has changed not only my life, but that of my family”.
I intend continuing further with my studies, and enroll for BSc in Financial Engineering (Hons)
